12 Player is a party game for one shared screen. Up to twelve people play at once, each in their own colour, through a run of short, simple games. It is in development for Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro.

One screen, twelve players

Everyone plays on the same screen at the same time. There is no split screen and no taking turns. A round lasts about 75 seconds, less if somebody wins early. Then the standings come up, and you are back in the lobby to go again or pick another game. When fewer than eight people are playing, bots fill the field to eight.

The end of a TOWLINE round: twelve skiers in a line with the winner out in front under a crown, above a strip of twelve coloured bars, one per player
After every round, the standings: one bar per player.

Join with anything

One device runs the game and shows it on the screen. Players join with whatever is to hand:

Press GO to take a seat, then hold GO. Your seat fills, and the round starts when everyone who is holding is full. While you wait, the lobby plays the chosen game by itself, so you can see what you are about to play.

12 Player's lobby over the game MAW: the game's number and name at top left with a row of dots under it, a QR code at top right, and twelve seats along the bottom, seven of them taken and three of those filling
The lobby: the chosen game plays behind the QR code and the twelve seats.

Two controls

Every game is played with the same two controls: steer and GO. What they do changes from game to game. GO is a hop in one, a sprint in the next, a dash, a throttle. Every round opens with three beats and a go.

There is almost nothing to read. The lobby shows each game's number and name, and the games themselves use no words at all.

Nobody sits out

Crash, fall or get caught and you are not out of the round. In every game you come back as something else, with a new job and a way back into the race. In YARNBALL you are a knitting needle poking at the cars. In MULTIBALL you are a flipper in your colour. In HOUSE RULES you are a giant hand beside the track. In PLUGHOLE you are a rubber duck on the rim, waiting to dive back in.

YARNBALL: toy cars race along a thread wound round a glass ball, while four long knitting needles in four players' colours reach into it from the sides
YARNBALL: four players who crashed are back as knitting needles.

The games

The current build has 24 games. Here are twelve of them.

The games are still being tuned, and the list may change before release. The full list is on the version 0.1 page.

Where it runs

12 Player is made for a big screen and a room full of people. It is in development for Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, and it is not on the App Store yet. Support covers joining and the controls for each device. Privacy is short: no accounts, no ads, no tracking.
